Google’s struggle with China over censorship begs the question: Is China's regulatory regime too restrictive for the free operation of American technology companies? HBS's February review of the Google/China skirmish says that "The Google issue has become a cause celebre that exacerbates the already fragile and festering U.S.-China relationship." Is it worth it for American businesses to acquiesce to the Chinese government’s control and censorship demands in order to operate in China’s ever-growing market? What do the Chinese people think about their government's censorship of information technology? How will American tech companies survive in China’s tumultuous Internet environment? Experts and insiders weigh in.

A personal talk with one of the most ambitious mayors in the nation
Get up close and personal with San Francisco's mayor at what may be the most important moment in his political life so far. Newsom became a political celebrity and set the tone for his career when he granted marriage licenses to same-sex couples in 2004. He continued to create a stir with ambitious and sometimes controversial projects to combat homelessness, offer universal health-care coverage and transform the city into a center for clean technology, all before embarking on a brief gubernatorial bid. Now, with San Francisco reeling amidst a budget crisis, the mayor will sit down and talk about the state of the city, his view for California, and perhaps even his next career move.

Green schools cost less to operate, freeing up resources to truly improve students╒ education. A typical green school saves $100,000 per year in direct costs. If all new school construction and school renovations went green starting today, energy savings alone would total $20 billion over the next 10 years.
